Certificate in Filmmaking

This certificate is not accepting new students as of Spring 2021. Please see the Certificate in TV and Film Producing. Gain an understanding of the essential concepts, techniques, and technology of digital filmmaking, while producing your own short film in the Certificate in Filmmaking. From the fundamentals of creating a screenplay to the technical craft of editing and postproduction, gain a comprehensive framework in the craft of cinematic storytelling. Through lectures, demonstrations, hands-on training, and evaluations of creative projects, learn professional standards and procedures from award-winning filmmakers. The Certificate must be completed within three years of taking the first certificate-eligible course. Note: Digital Filmmaking Intensive/FLMM1-CE9522 is equivalent to—and can be substituted for—these two required courses: Writing and Directing the Short Film/FLMM1-CE9400 and Introduction to Filmmaking Workshop: Shooting and Postproduction/FLMM1-CE9921. To complete the Certificate, take either all five required courses shown, or take Digital Filmmaking Intensive/FLMM1-CE9522 and the three remaining required courses.
