Certificate in Journalism and Newswriting Summer 2023

This writing certificate introduces you to the essential research, information-gathering, and reporting skills of journalism, from feature writing and investigative reporting to long-form interviews and arts and music criticism. Whether you are an aspiring freelancer, a budding beat reporter, or the founder of a startup interested in exploring entrepreneurial journalism, the Certificate in Journalism and Newswriting will provide you with a well-rounded foundation of expert instruction, professional guidance, and field experience, preparing you for writing accurate and engaging articles and features. The certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete the three required courses and the two elective courses listed below, which can be substituted with other Media, Writing, and Communications certificate courses, pending departmental review and approval.
